In fact, Hamilton revealed that he doesn’t even know where the wet switch is on his new steering wheel and is still learning about Ferrari’s braking system. This admission is a stark contrast to his usual confidence and has tempered expectations that he might get his Ferrari career off to a glorious start.
Hamilton’s struggles in qualifying saw him finish eighth, behind teammate Charles Leclerc, who qualified seventh. The British driver admitted that he was still learning about the car and was relying heavily on his engineers. He also acknowledged that he will have to use the beginning of the race as a crash course on how to drive his new car in the rain.
