Rasmus Kristensen, a Leeds United loanee currently playing for Eintracht Frankfurt, has impressed in Denmark’s 1-0 win over Portugal in the UEFA Nations League play-off. Kristensen, who has been playing for Frankfurt on loan, started for Denmark and put in a solid performance, keeping Portugal’s Rafael Leao at bay.
Kristensen’s display earned him an 8/10 rating from Danish media outlet TV2, with former Denmark defender Morten Bruun praising his performance. “If he keeps playing like this, the right-back spot belongs to him,” Bruun said.
Kristensen also impressed in a duel with Paris Saint-Germain’s Nuno Mendes, who is considered one of the best left-backs in the world. Despite Mendes’ trademark lung-busting runs down the flank, Kristensen was able to keep him under control.
The performance is a boost for Kristensen, who has been struggling to make an impact at Leeds United. He is expected to leave the club permanently in the summer, with Frankfurt hoping to agree a knockdown fee for the player.
Frankfurt director Timmo Hardung has expressed his desire to keep Kristensen at the club, praising his quality and fit with the team. “We’re trying,” Hardung said. “We have him here until June 30th and we know about his quality. He’s just a good guy who fits in very well with us in the team and the club.”
