Former Leeds United Star Charlie Cresswell Admits He Still Watches Every Game
Former Leeds United defender Charlie Cresswell has revealed that he still watches every Leeds United game, despite leaving the club for Toulouse in France. Cresswell, who spent 11 years at Leeds United’s academy, made the move to Toulouse in search of regular playing time.
In an interview, Cresswell expressed his love for his new life in France, but admitted that he misses some of the comforts of home, including Bisto gravy. However, he has been enjoying the challenge of playing in Ligue 1 and has been impressed by the technical and tactical approach to the game in France.
Cresswell has been a key player for Toulouse, helping the team to a top-half finish in Ligue 1. He has also been praised for his performances, with only four Ligue 1 players averaging more clearances per game than his six.
The 22-year-old has also been taking regular French lessons to improve his language skills and has been enjoying the experience of playing abroad. “Playing in a top-five league in Europe is a big deal for youngsters coming through because you get to test yourself against Europe’s best,” he said.
Despite his focus on his career in France, Cresswell admitted that he still watches every Leeds United game and follows the team’s results. He also refused to rule out a return to England in the future, saying that he is “enjoying every minute” of his time in France, but “there’s no rush” for him to return to England.
“I don’t take anything for granted,” Cresswell said. “We’re sat in tenth with Europe in our eye line, it’s exciting. I’ve still got a lot of improvement to do, but we’ll see where that takes me.”
